The focus of their presentation was the importance of developing and modernizing Technical and Vocational Education and Training (TVET) curricula in Technical-Vocational Schools and Training Centres.
During the session, Mr. Joe Wagner emphasized the rapidly changing nature of the world of work and its implications for TVET curricula. He introduced the concept of Competency-Based Training (CBT), underlining its relevance in preparing students for current and future workforce demands.
Mr. Wagner outlined three essential pillars that should guide the development of curricula in Technical-Vocational Schools and Training Centres:
- Specification of Employment: Defining the specific employment opportunities and roles that the training aims to address.
- Specification of Learning: Clearly identifying the learning objectives and competencies that students are expected to acquire.
- Specification of Assessment: Establishing methods to assess whether students have achieved the intended competencies and learning outcomes.
